Naomi Long Magett: Godmother Of African-American Poetry

Her career as a poet began at age seven. At fifteen, she met Langston Hughes, and published her first book of poetry at age seventeen. Her contributions to American literature, combined with her influence in metropolitan Detroit and throughout the nation, inspired and assisted a legion of African American poets.
