An American Story: Race Amity and the Other Tradition is about “The Other Tradition” in American race relations, the tradition of amity and close cross/racial collaboration to advance equity and social justice. This film explores that little-known history.
The film also has a companion book. Race Amity: America’s Other Tradition – A Primer, is co-authored by noted race amity pioneer, author and historian, Dr. Richard W. Thomas, and Dr. William H. “Smitty” Smith, filmmaker and founding executive director of the National Center for Race Amity.
Dr. Richard Thomas discusses "The Other Tradition" in this podcast.
